Our client is an energy operator based in London, who develop and produce natural gas.

They are currently recruiting for a HSE Manager to join them on either a part-time permanent or contract basis.

This is a stand alone position and will ensure the company complies with all legal and moral responsibilities with respect to health, safety and the environment. They will keep up to date with legislation, conduct regular audits / inspections of the company and contractors, implementing actions when necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment by adherence to Company’s Safety and Environmental Management system, HSE and ESG policies, procedures and legislation

  • Ensure all risk to personnel, plant and the environment are assessed and reduced to as low as reasonably practicable.

  • Report and be involved in the investigation of all safety, environmental and technical performance incidents in order to improve overall performance for future activities

  • Ensure each operated asset has a valid and up to date Safety Case in place and is operating within them

  • Ensure the Safety and Environmental Critical Elements are defined and verified for each asset

  • Provide support and input to safety and technical assurance programs on and offshore

  • Maintaining company certifications and where applicable developing strategies and documents for compliance with new standards

  • Developing and implementing HSE management plans including interface documents, crisis and emergency response plans, environmental assessments, permits and consents, waste management plans and reporting

  • Assisting the company in the development and maintenance of key stakeholder relationships by providing reporting metrics, awareness of activities and regulatory processes that are followed

  • Ensure that corporate management systems for HSE (including policies, standards, procedures and arrangements for review and audit), in particular :

  • Suitably address the scope of Company activities and assets;

  • Suitably interface with asset level management systems;

  • Meet an appropriate internationally recognised standard.

  • Provide suitable arrangements for HSE risk management, compliance and necessary consents on all Company operated assets;

  • Identification of potential HSE risks, impacts and associated commercial implications at business development opportunities;

  • Provide competent advice and support to the Executive and Board, in particular :

  • Maintain appropriate arrangements for the corporate governance of H,S&E;.

  • Assisting in the review and auditing of the contracted Installation Operator’s Safety Cases for operating facilities.

  • Assisting in the review of contractor’s Major Hazard Assessments with respect to the design and operation of company facilities.

  • Assisting in the review of contractor’s Quality plans and HSE plans when undertaking work on behalf of the company.

The client is keen to find someone to start as soon as possible and is seeking an experienced candidate with the following skills and experience:

  • 25+ Years of relevant Experience with a successful track record in leading the HSE function within an offshore operating or consultancy company in the UKCS.

  • The job holder should have education or equivalent to degree level, together with a post graduate qualification in a relevant degree.

  • Alternatively the job holder may have qualification to HND level in occupational safety and health, together with extensive experience and successful track record of developing specific health and safety policies standards and procedures within a blue chip enterprise in the offshore oil & gas sector, and proven ability to lead a professional team.

  • Membership of an internationally recognised professional body is essential.

  • Proven ability to develop and deliver strategic programmes for health, safety and environmental performance across the full range of functional disciplines and project life-cycles within the UKCS offshore oil & gas exploration and production industry;

  • Personal qualities include an ability to communicate effectively at all levels, promoting a positive attitude to HSE risk management and enabling structured and systematic approaches.

  • Training and experience in Incident Investigation.

  • Valid Offshore medical and BOSEIT.
